About the event
This May, Dr Jason from West Cork Rapid Response and a dedicated team of volunteer emergency responders will run the full length of the Beara Peninsula. The Beara Way Challenge which unfolds over eight days and 121 kilometres of Ireland’s most dramatic and untouched terrain. From the Atlantic edge at Dursey Sound to the still waters of Gougane Barra, the route winds through coastal tracks, open mountains, lush forestry, and ancient boreens — revealing the full wild character of the Beara Peninsula. This isn’t just about distance. It’s about immersion — in landscape, in effort, and in something bigger than yourself.
It begins with a sharp introduction: steep climbs and rapid descents above Garnish, crossing open mountain and bog before dropping to the crashing Atlantic at Allihies.
